Masonry Flagstone Steps

Flagstone masonry steps must be constructed on a concrete footer below the frost line which can add significantly to the cost, but done correctly masonry steps can last for centuries.
Please view some examples of our masonry flagstone steps below.
All steps shown were constructed by Robert J. Kleinberg Landscape Design and Construction.  He is an ICPI Certified Concrete Paver Installer and a NCMA Certified Segmental Retaining Wall Installer.  He is also an EP Henry Authorized Hardscaping Contractor, and has been designing and constructing patios, steps and gardens in Philadelphia, Montgomery County ( Lower Merion, Bala Cynwyd, Ardmore, Narberth ), Delaware County ( Havertown, Marple, Drexel Hill, Lansdowne, Springfield, Swarthmore, Ridley, Media, Upper Darby, Newtown Square, Radnor ), and the Main Line ( Bryn Mawr, Villanova, Gladyne, Wynnewood ) PA as a Landscape and Hardscaping contractor since 1986.

Masonry Flagstone Steps
Shown below are flagstone steps with solid treads mortared onto risers constructed with tumbled flagstone wall stone over cinder blocks and a concrete footer, and brick cheek walls. Flagstone masonry steps must be constructed on a concrete footer below the frost line which can add significantly to the cost.

Flagstone Veneered Top Landing with Masonry Lower Steps 

A combination of the above two types of steps.  Flagstone veneer over the top landing, the bottom landing was constructed with cinder blocks on a concrete footer and flagstone veneered on the sides to match the top landing and step.  Below is shown gray with extra tan and rust shades.
